Scarlett Autos will check the following components to ensure each meets the minimum standard set out by the DVSA before issuing an MOT certificate:
The MOT test, mandated by UK law, is an annual examination for vehicles over 3 years old (and some over 1 year). Administered by DVSA-approved examiners, it rigorously assesses roadworthiness, covering lights, tyres, seatbelts, and emissions, among other safety aspects. Performed by DVSA-accredited testers, the MOT ensures vehicles meet roadworthy standards but doesn't substitute a full service or assess overall mechanical health. Results reflect the vehicle's condition on the day; passing doesn't guarantee future tire condition, for instance.
A pass yields a certificate, along with notice of any minor issues needing attention. Failure results in a list of major or dangerous faults. If easily fixable, some may qualify for a free re-test.
MOT certificates typically remain valid for 12 months from the previous expiry, not the test date, crucial to avoid driving with an expired MOT. Check the expiry date on your current certificate.

I have a 2004 SLK 350 R171 which I intended to take to France to rally in September. Scarlett Auto Service’s listened carefully to my concerns, and with attention to detail ensured that not only was it fit to take to Bordeaux, but that I won the overall rally beating an Aston Martin, Porsche, Jaguar & Ferrari over 2 days. Had no issues at all for the entire trip. Not bad for an 18 year old car. What I really like about this friendly & accomplished garage is that they fully engage, include you in the process, and nothing is seemingly too much trouble. I had, for example, a problem with the wing mirror motor assembly and Scarlett’s went to some trouble to source an affordable original second hand replacement. Something that previous garages had not attempted. The work I requested was done to a very high standard; with a wide range of expertise being shown; they invited me to inspect their work: & importantly I am always made to feel welcome. As a fussy Mercedes owner I trust them implicitly & would not take my car anywhere else.

I use Scarletts Auto Services to look after my Ford Escort RS Cosworth. Stuart and his team have always been very professional, reliable and trustworthy and I feel totally at ease leaving my car with them. I would highly recommend Scarletts.

This is a great garage very honest and fantastic service. All the staff are experienced Mechanics. They are always very busy which is a great indicator of their quality work. I would highly recommend.
